Attendance Policy

SY 2025–2026 School-Wide Attendance Policy

Student attendance is recorded daily on Infinite Campus. Students are considered present until marked absent. Teachers can record an absence until 11:59 PM on the same day. If you have a concern about your child’s attendance after this deadline, please contact Lovely Neff at Lovely.Neff@k12.hi.us and she will assist with any necessary adjustments.

Attendance Expectations for Students and Parents

Students are expected to attend school daily and arrive on time to support consistent learning and classroom engagement. If a student will be absent, parents or guardians should notify the school as soon as possible with the reason for the absence. Documentation such as a doctor’s note may be required for multiple consecutive absences or for attendance record adjustments.

Students who are absent without a valid reason and without communication from home will be marked unexcused. Excessive unexcused absences may result in administrative follow-up and impact the student’s academic progress.

Tardiness Policy

School begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Students arriving after 8:05 AM are considered tardy. Any student arriving late must report to the front office and pick up a pink tardy slip before going to class. This helps ensure accurate attendance and provides a record of their arrival time.

We encourage families to make every effort to ensure students arrive on time and are ready to learn. Regular, timely attendance helps set a strong foundation for academic success and helps students develop good habits that will benefit them throughout life.

If you have any questions or need support related to your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Hawaii DOE - Attendence Policy

Regular school attendance is essential for student success, and it’s a responsibility shared by families, schools and the broader community. In Hawaiʻi, school attendance is governed by both state law and Board of Education policy, which emphasize the importance of keeping students engaged in learning from an early age. These guidelines ensure that children age 5 through 17 attend school regularly, helping to build a strong foundation for their future.
